2021 World Series

Game 1:

 B’s took a 3-1 lead against Miami into the 6th inning. The Stars got one run in on a Devin Arceneaux single, and with 2 out and 2 on, Todd Gibbs crushed a 3 run homer to put Miami up. Scott Elzy went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits, and 5 Miami relievers pitched scoreless baseball over the last 4 innings.

Lou Watson and Travis Howard each struck out the side while facing a total of 6 batters in the 7th and 8th innings.

Game 2:

Will Daugherty hit a pair of homers, driving in 3 runs, in his first 2 trips to the plate against Johnny Anderson. Cristobal Rangel pitched another gem with 7 scoreless innings. Joe Pinches threw 40 pitches in the last 2 innings to close it out as Hollywood won 4-0.

Game 3:

Ramon Torra gave Miami an early lead with a 2 run second inning homer. Ken Fitzgerald was dominant in the first 4 innings, but ran into trouble in the 5th. With 2 out Erik Valentin singled in the first Hollywood run. Daugherty drew a walk. Miami let Fitzgerald stay in to face Cesar Corona. He had the platoon advantage, and had struck out his first 2 times. This time Corona lined a double into the gap, bringing home 2 runs. Neither team scored again, with Mark McCaffrey pitching the last 1.2 innings for the save.

Game 4:

Hollywood scored once in each of the first 4 innings. Jason Richardson pitched 6 scoreless innings, striking out 7. Joe Pinches went the last 2 innings to complete the 4-0 shutout.

Game 5:

Daugherty and Corona each had RBI hits in the first inning against Elzy. In the 3rd, Miami got one back against Fozzy Wacha. Ramon Torra was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on a double by Justin Alexander. In the 5th, Miami tied it up on a Torra sac fly.In the bottom 5th, Miami brought in Lou Watson. He allowed a leadoff double to Chad Richardson, who would end up scoring on a wild pitch. With 2 out, Corona singled in another run against lefty Sergio Zambrano. Each team had a solo homer after that. Joe Pinches had another 2 inning outing, retiring a 6 Miami batters he faced to save the game 5-3, and give the B’s back to back championships.

MLCS: Hollywood vs Alaska

 Game 1:

Hollywood hit 5 homers, including 2 from L.J. Burroughs, to win a slugfest 13-7. After an 8-1 start, Alaska pulled to within 2 runs after a 6 run 6th inning. Hollywood was able to pull away after that. Cesar Corona had 3 hits and drove in 5 runs.

Game 2: 

Vince MacElheran had 4 hits and 2 RBI, and Matt Johnson went 7 innings, allowing only 3 hits and 2 runs as Alaska evened the series.

Game 3: 

Hollywood scored 6 times in the first 3 innings against Sox starter Albert Anderson. Chad Richardson had a 3 run homer. The Alaska bullpen did their best to keep it close, allowing no runs, but Brad Hayes went 7 innings, allowed 5 hits, 2 runs, and struck out 8. Joe Pinches handled the final two innings, throwing 47 pitches to close out the 6-3 win.

Game 4:

Cristobal Rangel pitched another gem, throwing 5 scoreless innings with 2 hits, 1 walk, and 6 strikeouts. He left after 5 due to a 65 minute rain delay. Tim Jacobs allowed only one run for Alaska before also leaving early. Nathan Tabor and Mark McCaffrey pitched 2 scoreless innings each for the B's, as they won 4-0.

Game 5: 

Knuckleballer Ken Bebbington had a short leash, and faced only 4 batters in the bottom of the first. Unfortunately, all of them scored, as Hollywood took a 5-0 lead. Peter Fox threw 4 innings in relief to give the Snow Sox a chance.

Jason Richardson struck out 10, allowing 3 runs over 6 inning. In the 8th, Tim McBride hit a sac fly against Joe Pinches to bring the score to 6-5, but Tom Chaisson hit into a double play to end the inning. Pinches stayed in for the 9th and had a 1-2-3- inning with a pair of strikeouts to end the game and send the B's back to the world series.

SLCS: Miami vs Las Vegas

 Game 1: 

Joel Camels gave up three runs on 4 hits in 5 innings, and Ken Fitzgerald allowed 2 runs while striking out 11 in 5 innings. From the 6th on, it was a battle of the bullpens.

Neither team scored again until the bottom 9th. Won-Shik Lee led off with a triple against Miami closer Ricardo Osuna. Jaime Lannister brought him home with a single. Lannister was caught stealing and the next two batters struck out to send the game to extra innings.

In the bottom 10th, Michael Rondon and Raul Saldana started with singles, putting runners at the corners with nobody out. Draal Kanjigarson then singled to left to bring the winning run home.

Game 2:

Miami jumped out to a 6-0 lead against Shawn Finley after 3 innings. Las Vegas battled back, pulling to within 7-5 in the 6th. They added 3 runs in the 7th, but Vegas still threatened. In the bottom 8th Jerry McDonald made a spectacular diving catch for the second out, but injured himself and had to leave the game. A 2 out out rally brought the score to 10-6.

In the 9th, Las Vegas loaded the bases with one out, but Ervin Russell got Lee to hit into a double play to end the game. Las Vegas had 16 hits and 6 walks, but Miami was able to escape with only 6 runs scored.

Game 3:

Ramon Torra, added to the roster in place of the injured McDonald, hit a 2 run homer in the 4th to break a 1-1 tie. Johnny Anderson pitched 6 innings for the Stars, allowing 3 hits and one earned run. Ben Angus pitched into the 6th and took the loss. Osuna pitched a perfect 9th, striking out 2, to preserve the 4-3 win.

Game 4:

Torra came through again with a second inning 2 out, 2 run double. He scored later in the inning, and singled home another run in the 6th to have a hand in all 4 Miami runs on the day. Brad Moulds allowed 2 runs in 5.1 innings, and Ervin Russell pitched the last 1.1 innings to save the game, 4-3.

Game 5: 

Miami scored 3 times in the first on homeruns by Arceneaux and Eric Lemon, and 3 more in the 4th as Torra hit a 2 run triple. Las Vegas had 2 run homers by Yoon-Tae Kim and Roberto Vargas, but Miami was able to hold on for a 7-5 to advance to the world series.
