Veterans committee selects Yoda, Roberts

Mark Roberts and Yoda are the newest members of the hall of fame, receiving 75% of the votes each.  Chris Berman, Nigel Tufnel, and Jake Taylor also earned at least one vote.

Roberts played 8 years for 5 different teams.  A second baseman, he had good bat control and was sound fundamentally but lacked power and speed.

After one season managing the Springfield Isotopes, he took over the Charlotte Hawks and managed for 17 years, winning two world series titles and 4 pennants.  His record as manager was 1484-1387.

There are limited records from Yoda's playing career, though it has been rumored that he played shortstop in the Old Republic League in 1871.  He managed for 13 seasons with a record of 1029-938.  In 1994 his Orlando Rugrats became the first Superior League team to win the World Series.  He has since served as general manager for the Florida Penguins.
