Sonic Russell Retires

New York is asserting its dominance again, especially with their starting pitching. Given that every year they get tremendous pitching, but the hitting is always sub-par (at least relative to the players abilities), is it time to say that New York is the best pitchers park in the game?

In the Central, Detroit has somehow control of the central division. Expect the Big Cheese to make some adjustments before the trading deadline.

In the West, the surging Hollywood B's, winners of 8 of their last 10, have taken a 3 game lead over the LA Shockers.

Also, Alaska is bringing up the rear as the worst team in the league, with a .370 winning percentage. Gaining ground on them is the disappointing Portland Decepticons at .396.

Portland is only worth watching every 5th day, when Roger starts. In today's game, Sonic Russell batted 2nd, and went 1-5, leaving him with a .201 batting average. Before the game, Sonic announced that this game would be his last as a major leaguer, as he will retire effective immediately. Sonic never found his hitting stroke this year, and closes his career with a whimper. Time has just passed him by. He finishes one double short of 600. He actually could have had 600 but in one of his last games, he legged out a triple rather than staying put at 2nd base. Thats probably a fitting way to end his career, as that moment captures his essence as a player much more than any final meaningless game. Portland will replace Russell in left field with a hodge podge of scrubby players. Is it time for the draft yet?

Autobots 21 Cleveland 6

3 Autobots- Red Bagwell, Jorge Mercedes, and Cory Feldman - each had 5 hits as the Autobots pounded out 26 against the helpless Cleveland Spiders. They were hitting in consecutive spots - 8, 9, and 1, and the Autobots scored 21 without help of a homer.

Roger wins #399

Roger Chillingworth pitched 7 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run, and 8 strikeouts, in defeating Orlando and Justin Zoolander. Zoolander pitched well in the loss, 8 innings, 5 hits, 8 strikeouts. The next time Roger takes the mound he'll be looking for win #400, something nobody has done since Walter Johnson.
