2022 Draft

We just over a week away from the 2022 draft. Hawaii will have the first pick. Who will they select?

Let's get to know some of the top prospects available.

Manny Carson Jr., SS, Hamilton High school Los Angeles, CA

Manny's dad was flame throwing pitcher who struck out 282 batters for the 1986 Stars. He was one of the wildest pitchers of all time, walking 148 that year. All those pitches took a toll on his arm, and he was out of the game at age 31. Manny Jr. has a great arm as well but his future is in the infield. Manny has good range at short, runs well, hits and hits for power. He is the total package and a strong candidate to be the first overall pick.

Drow Jones Jr., CF, Centerburg HS Ohio

Drow Jones Sr. was the finest defensive center fielder of the elven league, He won 9 consecutive gold gloves from 1999 to 2007 while averaging over 30 homers per season. In 2008, he signed a 7 year, 140 million dollar contract to join APBA and the Los Angeles Shockers. Unfortunately, Drow suffered a knee injury in spring training. At first, the Shockers thought he would only be out for 2 months, but while rehabbing Drow discovered something he had never encountered in Faerie land - American fast food. His new diet, combined with inactivity from the injury, pushed his weight into the stratosphere. He was never able to get himself into good enough shape to play for the Shockers.

Drow Jones junior is a fantastic defensive center fielder. Having grown up in the U.S., he has already shown he can avoid the temptations that befell his father. He projects to a good hitter with above average power. He's not likely to lead the league in anything, but can help a team across the board.

Theron Tucker, RF, Pittsburgh college

Tucker is the grandson of the famous jazz musician of the same name, a great saxophonist who played with Bleeding Gums Murphy. Tucker is the best pure hitter in the draft. He also has great speed, a strong arm in the outfield, and enough power that he should hit 20 homers per year.

Raul Cruz, 3B, Paraclete HS, California

Cruz is the best pure hitter in the high school ranks and idolizes Wade Boggs, even though Boggs had retired before Cruz was born. Though a right handed hitter, he has modeled his swing and his diet after Boggs, eating chicken for every meal. He has average power potential. His range is below average, but he gets the job done with good hands and a strong arm.

Oliver Davis, 3B, North Carolina State

Davis is a big guy at 6 foot 4 and has the best power in the draft class. He's very patient at the plate, but also has a lot of swing and miss in his game. Defensively, he's average at best.

Dave Juhan, LHP, Canada

Juhan is the top lefty starter in the draft. At 6 foot 8, he can reach 98 on the radar gun. He can throw strikes with his splitter, change, and knuckle curve and doesn't lose any velocity into the late innings.

Don Barnard, RHP, Samford college

Barnard primarily throws a heavy sinking fastball at 97 to 99 MPH. He gets a ton of ground balls, and can repeat his delivery and throw strikes. In college he hasn't needed much more than the fastball. His slider and changeup are works in progress.

After Hawaii, the top half of the draft is:

2. Cleveland

3. Texas

4. Philadelphia

5. Orlando

6. Mars

7. Denver

8. Charlotte

9. Detroit

11. Green Day

12. Utah

13. Boston

14. Springfield

15. NY Knights

Toronto and Baltimore will earn compensation picks between the first and second round. Portland will have a comp pick at the end of round 2.
