Snow Sox find Jesus

While other teams chase after the latest free agents from other leagues, the Snow Sox may have already signed their next superstar in a surprise under the radar signing.

Harmon "Buck" Bokai, who played in Japan last year, and Gidget Peveto, from the Canine League, are likely to receive contracts worth several hundred million each. Meanwhile, the Snow Sox have already signed Jesus Guerra, a 26-year-old shortstop who has a similar left-handed swing to Corey Seager. The Snow Sox were able to sign Jesus to a standard minor league contract, though he may well end up starting on opening day, depending on how things go in spring training.

Guerra was found playing in an independent league in South Shore Kentucky, a town with barely 1,000 residents that sits on the Ohio river. Guerra is part of the town's small Hispanic population, which according to wikipedia is 0.24% of the city. The other are his single mother, Maria, and his younger sister, Isabella.

Guerra did not play baseball in high school as his grades were not good enough to maintain eligibility. He eventually dropped out and found employment at a local manufacturer of vertical grain lumber products. Although he had not previously played baseball, last year a co-worker convinced him to fill in for the company team. Turns out, he was a natural, playing shortstop and hitting .743 with 16 homers in a 28 game season. The team happened to catch the attention of a Snow Sox scout, who informed farm director Isei Hayagawa. Hayagawa took one look, and quickly signed him last month before other teams were aware that such a talented player even existed.

The signing was completed at Giovanni's Pizza, and Hayagawa left town with a potential All Star Shortstop.
