Moore era over in Texas

Last season the Texas Gunfighters went to the World Series for the first time in team history.  In the off-season they broke out the big bucks to add Aaron Moore from Boston.  Moore received 206 million over 6 years.  It has not gone as planned.  While Moore has provided power with 21 homers and 56 RBI, his batting average has fallen to .237 after hitting .320 last season.

Texas has followed up their best season with a fall to last place and a 41-60 record. On Friday Texas found a taker for Moore and his salary, shipping him to Cleveland for starter Ricky Durrington and top prospect Dave Foreman, a first round pick in 2017.

Cleveland, at 50-50, is trying to stay in the central division race after a recent slump.  They had relatively few long term salary commitments, so they have no trouble affording Moore and recent trade acquisition Brett Solo.

Kinger alive and well

A recent post on the OOTP site incorrectly stated that Max Klinger, owner of the Toledo Mud Hens and a Korean War veteran, had died.  This has proven to be fake news.  Klinger is alive and well, however he is stepping down in his role overseeing baseball and business operations.  His son Doug will be the owner on record for the franchise, with Max continuing to root on his team from the owner’s box.
