2021 World Series

Game 1:

 B’s took a 3-1 lead against Miami into the 6th inning. The Stars got one run in on a Devin Arceneaux single, and with 2 out and 2 on, Todd Gibbs crushed a 3 run homer to put Miami up. Scott Elzy went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits, and 5 Miami relievers pitched scoreless baseball over the last 4 innings.

Lou Watson and Travis Howard each struck out the side while facing a total of 6 batters in the 7th and 8th innings.

Game 2:

Will Daugherty hit a pair of homers, driving in 3 runs, in his first 2 trips to the plate against Johnny Anderson. Cristobal Rangel pitched another gem with 7 scoreless innings. Joe Pinches threw 40 pitches in the last 2 innings to close it out as Hollywood won 4-0.

Game 3:

Ramon Torra gave Miami an early lead with a 2 run second inning homer. Ken Fitzgerald was dominant in the first 4 innings, but ran into trouble in the 5th. With 2 out Erik Valentin singled in the first Hollywood run. Daugherty drew a walk. Miami let Fitzgerald stay in to face Cesar Corona. He had the platoon advantage, and had struck out his first 2 times. This time Corona lined a double into the gap, bringing home 2 runs. Neither team scored again, with Mark McCaffrey pitching the last 1.2 innings for the save.

Game 4:

Hollywood scored once in each of the first 4 innings. Jason Richardson pitched 6 scoreless innings, striking out 7. Joe Pinches went the last 2 innings to complete the 4-0 shutout.

Game 5:

Daugherty and Corona each had RBI hits in the first inning against Elzy. In the 3rd, Miami got one back against Fozzy Wacha. Ramon Torra was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on a double by Justin Alexander. In the 5th, Miami tied it up on a Torra sac fly.In the bottom 5th, Miami brought in Lou Watson. He allowed a leadoff double to Chad Richardson, who would end up scoring on a wild pitch. With 2 out, Corona singled in another run against lefty Sergio Zambrano. Each team had a solo homer after that. Joe Pinches had another 2 inning outing, retiring a 6 Miami batters he faced to save the game 5-3, and give the B’s back to back championships.
