Game 1
Road Win Lifts Hawaii to 1-0 Lead in R2
The Hawaii Hounddogs started the Division Series in style today, winning on the road against the Bay Area Bandits at Bandits Park by a score of 5-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Hounddogs second baseman Johnathan McGee excelled. He was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk.
Hawaii used a well-timed hit by Javier Colomo to capture the win. The catcher socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Hounddogs ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
McGee called the win "a collective effort."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bandits Park in San Francisco.
Game 2
The Bay Area Bandits defeated the Hawaii Hounddogs, 2-1 in Game 2 of the Division Series today. Doing his part was starter Aaron Webb, who threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The win moves Bay Area into a 1-1 tie with Hawaii in the series.
Webb allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 6.1 innings for the Bandits. He walked 2 and struck out 7.
"We'll savor this win," Webb told the Bay Area Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 15th , 2024 at Graceland Park in Honolulu.
Game 3
Wheeler Blasts Hounddogs, Bandits Take Game 3, 9-8
The Bay Area Bandits moved to within one game of the League Series today, downing the Hawaii Hounddogs on the road at Graceland Park by a score of 9-8. Bandits second baseman Eugene Wheeler was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The win gives the Bandits a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.
Bay Area used the bat of Cole Werner to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bandits ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Nice win for us," said Wheeler. "Now we'll go after the next one."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Graceland Park in Honolulu.
Game 4
The Bay Area Bandits will continue the trek towards a Championship Series title, while the Hawaii Hounddogs are headed home for the season.
Bay Area won the Division Series with a clinching game 7-3 victory at Graceland Park, concluding the series at 3-1.
"We didn't want this thing to go any further, that's for sure," Eugene Wheeler said after officially being named series MVP.
He turned in a dominant offensive performance to win the award, with a .471 batting average, .526 on-base percentage, 2 home runs, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored.
The Bay Area Bandits will play against the Denver Rabbits in the next round. Denver won their series against the Hollywood B's 3 games to 0. The League Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
