Wild Card Series: Utah vs Baltimore

 Game 1

Utes Edge Colts 3-2 to Open R1

The Utah Utes faced a tough opponent in Baltimore Colts pitcher Roberto Dominguez, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the Wildcard Series, which they now lead 1-0. The Utes won 3-2 at Popcorn Dome, despite the Colts getting a strong start from left-hander Dominguez, who went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs.

Utah took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, second baseman Zeus Zygyk hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.

"We're one game closer to our goal," Utah manager Battle Trap said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Baltimore in Baltimore.

Game 2

Utes Move on to Division Series

The Utah Utes outclassed the Baltimore Colts in all facets of the game throughout the SC Wildcard Series.

The end result was a Utah series sweep to advance to the Division Series, capped off by a 6-0 win in the final game.

"We're a bit surprised it's over in a sweep, to be honest with you," said right fielder Aster Smith, who hit .667 in the series.

Smith's standout effort garnered her MVP honors. She also put up a .667 on-base percentage and had 1 home run, drove in 1 RBI and scored 1 runs. She also stole 3 bases.

The Utah Utes will play against the Boston Beaneaters in the next round. Boston had a bye in the Wildcard Series. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
