Utes Dominate

Utah destroyed the old Utes, also known as the Knights, 10 to 1 behind Bob Zimmerman (12-6). Utah got 6 runs in the first off Tom Groovine, raising his ERA to 3.20. Lou Zamuda had 3 hits, and is hitting .331-12-90 on the season.

Texas beat Phoenix 9-8. Mark Crawford hit his 28th homerun but left in the 9th inning with a sore hamstring. Crawford normally plays everyday but the injury has caused him to miss 2 games in the last week. He is day to day.

Cleveland beat Charlotte 6-5, getting 2 runs in the 9th off struggling closer Javier Cavazos. Larry Patterson pitched 8 innings and struck out 12.

Toledo shut out Boston 2-0 behind John Almaraz, Lucious Whitmore, and a 2 inning save for Paul Williamson. Due to injuries, Toledo called up Gonzalo Veres, who was selected in last fall's draft. Veres started at 2B and was 0 for 3. Johnny DeMario struck out 9 in 6 innings.
