Big Hawaii News!

Early in the offseason, Hawaii has been extremely active.  With the glut of contracts expiring and a new philosophy, Hawaii has made the following moves:

Hawaii has traded the rights to journeyman OF Mike Dickerson to Florida for long-time Penguin OF Kimba Bartee.  The dog, known for having one of the best outfield gloves in APBA history was rumored to be retiring.  However, Wake has said he wants Bartee patrolling the outfield everyday and helping the next wave of Hounddog stars see how it's done.  With an everyday job, Kimba (a 5/10 player with veto power) changed his mind about retiring for the chance at playing every day.

Next, Hawaii signs another veteran, Nomad Garciajawa to a 2 year deal valued at $7 million.  It appears Wake believes the jawa still has enough left in the tank to play shortstop for 2 years as he approaches 3,000 hits.  Nomad will make an additional $1.5 Million as the new Hounddogs hitting coach.

Also, as has been widely reported, Eddie Bird has been stripped of his manager title and given the title of "special consultant".  It is believed Eddie's title is merely a face-saving measure and that he will have little or no input into the future of the team.  Not coincidentally, his consultant contract is for 2 years - the same amount of time left on his guaranteed managerial contract.  The Bird will join Kenny Anderson in the APBA booth next year.  Should be a hoot!

Wake has also announced Kimba Bartee will assume managerial duties of the Hounddogs.  It is the dog's first (and likely final) managerial assignment.

Also remaining in the Hawaii dugout is the venerable Solo Sr who has been promoted from Bench Coach to Pitching Coach.

There are also rumors that Kenny Anderson Jr is being shopped and may be traded to Las Vegas soon where Fett is looking to improve his awful outfield situation.  More to come.
