Detroit at New York Game 7

Charles Cooper vs. Stuart Coppolla

In the bottom of the third, New York runs the bases loaded offense with 2 out for Chad White. White then singles to center, two runs score, Bob Abuee misplays the ball, and White ends up at second with three runs in. In the 5th, Abuee gets 1 run back with a two out RBI double, then scores on a BJ Lewis single. In the 8th, New York goes to "closer" Jaret Benser who retires the side. In the bottom of the 8th, Buckley and Manfred hit back to back doubles to give New York a 4-2 lead.

To the 9th:
Vandenberg....strike three
pinch hitter Dan Thomas (a lefty) for SS Arnoldo Jimenez...single
pinch hitter Joe Brown for closer Don Barkley...strike three
Bob Abuee...ground out to Brett Solo to end the game and the series.

New York wins a close one 4 games to 3.
