Carlos Merejo's 4th hit of the game, a 2 run double in the bottom 7th broke a 3-3 tie, and Frank Lewis also had 3 hits. With a 5-3 lead in the 9th, closing Ute Henry Rollins gave up a solo homer to Tommy Miller but held on to a 5-4 lead to take the first game.
