Top Prospects, Boston Beaneaters

1. Scott Meyer, 3B-SS, age 21

He'll play 3rd base in the majors. Has a good idea of the strike zone, and potential to hit 25 or more homers. He needs to make better contact. Hit .211 with 13 homers, also drew 54 walks.

2. Floyd Davison, RHP, age 23

Floyd was drafted out of Boston College in 2005. He could contend for a 5th starters position in 2007, or be used in middle relief. Doesn't throw hard, but is a polished pitcher who knows how to get batters out. Went 13-9 with a 3.26 ERA

3. Jay Lansing, RHP, age 23

He's not as polished as Davison, but throws harder, with a fastball that can hit 94. Went 6-5 with a 4.18 ERA, also struck out 72 in 79 innings.

4. Kurt Kawasaki, C, age 21

He can hit for average and conrols the strike zone well, but has little power. His defense is improving, and should be pretty good. Threw out 33% of basestealers. Also was hit by 18 pitches.

5. Seth Lopez, OF, age 21

Hit .263 with 4 homers, 24 doubles in 415 at bats. He's an average runner and thrower. He's a pretty good hitter, but will need to develop homerun power if he's going to have a career as a corner outfielder. He would be best in left but could get by in right.

Jay Lansing should be #1. He's a future ace. He's still growing, should be able to throw 95-100 when he matures, and his curve is wicked good. Watch him improve his control, and lead the Beaners to the world series!
