Division series: Portland vs Hollywood

 Game 1:

The B’s scored in the first 2 innings, and had Cristobal Rangel on the mound, a guy who was untouchable in the 2021 postseason. Rangel did not have his best stuff this day, striking out only 2 batters through 5. In the 5th he loaded the bases with 3 singles by the bottom of the Portland order. Pinch hitter Ronald Franks then unloaded the bases with an inside the park grand slam.

With the score 5-3 in the bottom 9th, Mark Hunter gave up 3 straight singles to load the bases. Marcelino Lopez replaced him and gave up a 2 run double to Henry McKain. With the winning run on third, he intentionally walked Erik Valentin. Lopez then struck out Jesus Durango and Will Daugherty, and got Cesar Corona to line out to second.

In the 10th, Nutkin Jr. drove in Roberto Gomez with a sac fly, and Portland held on for a 6-5 win.

Game 2:

B’s scored 8 runs off Thomas Smith in the first 4 innings, and Jason Richardson allowed 1 run over 5 innings before leaving the game. In the 7th, Masuda hit a 3 run homer off Fozzy Wacha to make it 8-5.

In the 9th, Masuda hit another 3 run homer with 2 out against Emmanuel Bianchi to tie the game at 8. Lopez came on to pitch the bottom of the 9th and gave up back to back doubles, the 2nd by Daugherty as the B’s walked it off.

Game 3:

Langford pitched a 1 hitter over 7 innings as Portland won 7-0. Metcalfe and Masuda had 3 hits each, and Langford added a 2 run double.

Game 4:

Portland scored 2 in the first off Brad Hayes. Daugherty came up with the bases loaded and score tied in the 4th and hit a 3 run double. Hollywood’s bullpen allowed no runs and the B’s added on for a 9-2 win to force game 5.
