Olsen Throws No-Hitter

Springfield's Carson Olsen threw the first no hitter of 2020, blanking the Utes 9-0 at Duff Field. The third year left-hander walked 4 while striking out 13. It took him 124 pitches to finish off the Utes, 78 for strikes.

In the 9th inning Jose Landry, the only Ute not to strike out on the day, flew out to right. After Paul Norris struck out, Olsen battled Derek Tufnel to a 2-2 count but an inside pitch grazed Tufnel and sent him to first.  That brought up rookie Bill Holman.  Holman swung at the first pitch, sending a ground ball to third base.  Martin Brito fielded it cleanly and threw to first to complete the shutout.

"I'm just glad to be here," Olsen said. "Today I just went right at the Utes as hard as I could, as long as I could."
