Wild Card Series

Orlando vs NY Knights

Zoolander faced Mike Carpenter.  NY took a 4-3 lead to the 8th.  Reliever Ryan Webb got the first 2, then gave up a double to Tim Diaz.  Michael Dobbs tied the game with a single.  The game would go into extra innings, where Orlando used closer James Batts for 2 innings.  In the top of the 11th Alonzo Zepeda's 2 run triple off Clinton Santana gave Orlando the lead, and Greg Collier was able to close out the game.

New York tied the series with a 6-1 win in game 2 behind 8 2/3 innings from Odis Robinson.  Kent Garner homered, and Wily Ramirez had 3 hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBI.

Game 3: New York jumped off to a 6-1 after 4 innings, sending Jose Escobar to the showers.  Joseph Smith Langford had some trouble in the 6th.  L.J. Burroughs brought Orlando with 2 runs on a 3 run, 2 out homer.  Roberto Calazzo and Ron Tejada shut the Rugrats down from there, and New York wins.

They will play Miami next, while Utah plays Chicago.

Florida vs. Bay Area

Game 1

Alex Maldonado's 3rd inning, 3 run homer put Florida on the board.  Peter Buchanon threw 5 shutout innings but ran into some trouble in the 6th.  Leopold Stotch led the inning off with a double, Miguel Cruz brought him home with a single, and Jarod Fulton tied the game up with a 439 foot homer.

Buchanon settled down from there, allowing no more in the 6th and pitching a scoreless 7th as well.  In the 8th David Baron walked with one out, Conn Barbarian singled.  Looking for speed, Florida ran Ezekiel Duke for Baron, and they pulled off a double steal.  Just in time, as Joey Howell lifted a deep fly to center to bring the run home.  Florida went to Darrell Tibbs for a scoreless 8th, and allowed him to start the 9th.  Tibbs allowed a lead off single, and was replaced by lefty David Tejada.  Tejada struck out Corey McGarvey, the only batter he'd face.  Grant Hansen came on to record the last 2 outs and put Florida up 1-0.

Game 2: Doug Guzman and George White took the mound, and held things scoreless until the 5th.  In the bottom 5th, Kawasaki singled, Oakenshield walked, and Melvin Ortiz singled to load the sacks with nobody out.  Left fielder Bob King, a better defender than hitter, struck out, bringing up the pitcher's spot.  Ezekiel Duke pinch hit for Guzman and brought home the first run with a single.  That's all Florida would get as Gromit popped up and Howell flew out to deep right.

Tibbs came on for the second straight day and pitched a 1-2-3 6th, throwing only 4 pitches.  He went back out for the 7th and walked Stotch, but got Garciajawa to hit into a double play and Steve Edwards to ground out.  The Penguins added a pair of insurance runs in the 7th on a Gromit 2 run single.

Tejada came out for the 8th, facing the top of the order and pitched a 1-2-3 inning.  With lefties due up, Tejada remained in the game for the 9th. McGarvey flew out to right, and then Ryan Harris and Stotch struck out to send Florida on the the division series.  They will play New York.

In the other matchup, the Shockers will play the Snow Sox.
