Major League East 2013

New York:  The Cobra once again have the best record in the league (57-28), good for a 10-game lead in the division.  The record is no fluke as they are scoring the most runs per game, have the 2^nd best team ERA in the league, and also have the #1 rated defense.  In the offseason, New York made a big move by trading for SS Luciano Cedeno and moving Brett Solo to 3B.    The results have been positive with Cedeno anchoring the team’s defense and also managing to hit .333-.375-.512.  Chad White is having a career year, hitting .326-22-66 and a .645 Slugging Percentage.  Marcus Redmon has been a nice find at catcher with 10 HR and a .460 Slugging Percentage in 176 at bats.  On the mound, Pedro Lewis is again one of the leagues top pitchers.  Pedro is 9-4 2.48 with 105 K’s in 98 IP.  Roscoe Savage has missed some time to injury but is 7-1 2.88 in 65 IP.  Jonathan Papelbrad is 2^nd in the league with 28 saves. 

Florida:  The Penguins are finally back in contention with a 46-37 record.  Conn the Barbarian might be the leagues most exciting player, and certainly is the top fantasy player in the game.  Conn is filling up the stat sheets with a .308-.395-.633 line, including 33 2B, 3 3B, 18 HR, 62 RBI, 40 BB, and 15 SB.  Casey Lebron is having a breakout season at first base, hitting .315-.397-.563, and Bud McNamara continues to hit with a solid .308 average.  Gromit Peveto has not looked major league ready, hitting only .193 with 6 HR and 72 K’s in 243 at bats.  George White continues to pitch as a front line starter with an 8-5 record, 2.73 ERA, and 106 K’s in 112 IP. 

Philadelphia:  The Gray’s headed into the all-star break in a funk, slipping to a 41-40 record.  Hank Crowell has not been living up to his contract, struggling with a .269 average and only 10 HR.  Willie Rivera seems to have found the fountain of youth, hitting .289 with 12 HR and a .508 SLG.  Matt Bulger has had a horrible year behind the plate, hitting only .245.  The combination of Domingo Chavez, Chris Gruber, and Jake Riggs have not been able to make up for the missing production from Paul White, who left via free agency last year.  Hank Jenks is having a fine season as the closer, with 24 saves and a 2.64 ERA.

Toronto:  The Seagulls have outscored their opponents slightly on the season, but are in last place with a 41-44 record.  Their offense has disappointed, including Jack Collins who has struggled to a .269-351-.491 line.  Stephen Hamburg is putting it all together this year, with a 10-2 record, 2.39 ERA, and 123 K’s in 105 IP.
