Superior League Gold Gloves

Catcher - Chris McMullen. He threw out 42% of basestealers, picked off 2 more, and only allowed 4 passed balls.

1st base: Hal Glover. Glover had a +8 defensive rating and made only 3 errors. Brant Bowen had a +13 rating, but the managers and coaches picked Glover on reputation. Orlando's Joseph Greble (-15) gets the lead glove award.

2nd base: We witness a changing of the guard. Knight's 2B Mike Perry (+10) wins his first gold glove over Jacen Solo (+6). Perry played all 162 games and led 2B with 486 assists and 99 double plays. Jimmy Urbano (-9) comes in last.

3rd base: Lance Dixon (+14) wins the gold glove, edging German Gonzalez (+12). Dionysus Bernsen comes in last (-16).

Shortstop: Luciano Cedeno wins the gold glove and Superior League defensive player of the year. He topped the 600 assist mark (602) and made only 5 errors, good for 21 runs above average. Michael Garciajawa and Kobe Jones (+11) rated well. Keith Johnson (-13) and Juan Biras (-12) did not.

Outfield: Gold Gloves go to Brian Kaat (+9), Vernon Coles (+7), and Carlos Merejo (+5, 24 assists). One surprise was Wellington Gehrig Bear, who was a minor league first baseman but has done a very good job in the outfield, +9 in left and even +4 in 19 games as a center fielder. DJ Werden came in at -13 in left (he's more comfortable as a right fielder) and Jose Harris was -11 in center (usually an infielder).
