Detroit at New York Game 2

There will be no sweep. Matt Gilbert was dominant, throwing a complete game, 3 hit shutout, walking none and striking out 8. Mazdahonda for New York was unimpressive, yielding 12 hits and 4 runs in only 5 innings. After an 0-3 with 3 K's in game 1, Detroit benched former New York Cobra RF Jermaine Moore for Dan Thomas. Thomas only went 1-4, but at least he made contact to keep rallys going. Gilbert survived a late score as New York had the bases loaded and 1 out in the bottom of the 8th. He got Brett Solo to pop out, and then Keith Lee hit a near miss game tying grand slam, with Thomas making the running catch at the warning track to retire the side.
