Foster walks off to 3000

On 8/11/2016 Jason Foster reached the 3000 hit mark against Toledo.  With 2 hits already on the day, Foster came up against Ernesto Lopez in the bottom of the 10th.  With bases loaded and nobody out, Foster lined a 1-1 fastball up the middle to win the game.

Jason Foster was traded to the Springfield Isotopes, with Lee Harvey Oswalt heading to the Florida Penguins.  Foster, 43, began his career 21 years ago in Springfield and is only 8 hits away from 3000.  Florida, however, had little playing time to offer beyond a pinch hitting role.  In the last 2 months, he only has 3 hits.  Springfield will allow Foster a chance to collect the hits he needs as a designated hitter.  Foster is one of the few players left to have played in the Microleague era, which ended in 1996.
