Hall of Fame Welcomes Chillingworth, Sanders, and Ramos

The ballots are all in. Leading the way with 8 votes were Roger Chillingworth and Dee Sanders.

Chillingworth, with 421 wins, 7 World Series rings, and 4280 strikeouts, easily passes the Hall of Fame test. Sanders became the 5th player in league history to reach 3000 hits, and also set a league record with 13 gold gloves.

With 87.5 percent of the vote, Cesar Ramos joins them in the hall. Ramos hit 411 homeruns in his career, along with 2639 hits. Ramos was never better than in 1999, when he hit .347 with 41 homers and 155 RBI while earning MVP honors for the Louisville Sluggers.

Just missing induction with 62.5 percent of the votes were Vern Terrell and Bob Zygyk. Terrell hit 408 homers and drove in 1523 runs, Zygyk was a regular participant in the world series, reaching the season finale 10 times with 4 different teams and winning 7 of them.

With 50% of the votes, Bono Vox, Quilvio Gato, Leon Wolf, and Drummond Peltier will be on next year's ballot. Peltier pitched in only one game during his career, but it was a complete game victory. An annual write-in drive has gotten him votes for several years, but this is his best showing. If two more voters convert to his cause, he will reach the Hall of Fame.

Derek Mills earned 3 votes and will remain on the ballot as well. Todd Allen, with 2, and Jack Johnson with 1, will not remain on the ballot. Butch Coolidge, Vernell Hightower, Bob Donovan, and Brett Wagner did not receive any votes.
